Queenstown Urban Village

In Queenstown a housing model is being promoted based on the German model known as Baugruppen. It is not the same as cohousing as while its co-operative style structure enables a group of families/couples/individuals to combine equity and self-develop a residential project for themselves it does not involve shared spaces. The initial Queenstownproposal (August 2019) is to build apartments with some shared facilities and a rooftop garden on a Melbourne Street site located a 5-minute walk to the centre of Queenstown.
