1820 Gibbston Valley, Gibbston, Queenstown-Lakes
Gibbston Valley were pioneers in wine making in Central Otago and now draw grapes from a number of vineyards in the region. The location now has several attractions. A 1400 cubic metre cave has been blasted into the local schist and is the venue for wine tastings. It was the first and continues to be the largest Wine Cave in New Zealand. The schist has provided a building material for the winery buildings. The Winery includes a restaurant and there is a hire facility for electric and mountain bikes.
