Lindis Pass Hotel

There is a public access easement, accessible from State Highway 8, through Dalrachney Station and onto the Lindis River. Access is marked from the highway south of the Lindis Bridge by the signs "Old Faithful Road" and "Nine Mile Historic Reserve". It is actually six kilometres to the camp and you may take your vehicle.

The old stacked stone hotel building here has been stabilised, the Department of Conservation video explains. Camping is permitted in the clearing. Old gold workings date back to a brief rush in 1861 which attracted 300 miners, and the site was again occupied during the depression by gold miners on a government scheme.

An alternative campsite on the opposite side of the river beside the highway is named Geordie Hill. A range of tracks in the hills here are fit for walking or mountain biking, remember to take plenty of water, aside from Camp Creek, the hills are utterly arid. For those wanting a Lindis Experience at a six star level, there is the new lodge at the top of the pass.
