2312 Cardrona Valley Road, Cardrona, Queenstown-Lakes
Once this hotel was a social centre for goldminers, now it is a place for travellers to stop for coffee. It lies on the Crown Range Scenic Route. Notably the hotel has a false front dating from the original construction of the hotel in the 1860s. The false front concealed a small corrugated iron clad building. Its appearance evoking the gold-mining era has led to to the building being used as an advertising backdrop. Now it is a restaurant and provides accommodation.
