Historic lodge dating from the 1880s. When this lodge was restored in 2010 historic details were found hidden within the lodge including some Masonic decoration. Heritage NZ rightly points out; "Built in 1888, it is an important reminder of the importance of non-governmental support systems and community networks which served an important community function in nineteenth century New Zealand."
