Hurworth

Dating from 1885, the cottage is the only survivor of a settlement called Hurworth. It was the first New Zealand home of Harry Aktinson, later a New Zealand Premier, It has an attractive garden. During the New Zealand Wars the inhabitants had to flee, after burying their valuables.
