184 Dickens Street, Napier South, Napier, Napier City
A delicious slice of leftover Napier, so rare in the Deco City. The RSA building neither belongs to the remnants of the City's original, timber built, colonial days, nor to the plethora of Art Deco which strode into town after the 1934 Quake.
This rare and elegant, slim and smooth classical build was built, respectfully, for the returned soldiers from the First World War, it was the RSA building, opened in 1919. It survived the quake and has stood out as an anomaly since, amongst the blindingly deco that came after.
Now operating as the Quest Apartments, it is possible to stay here.
