Brancott Estate Heritage Centre

The Brancott Winery is a good place start on the Marlborough wine trail. Listen to the Audio Guide.
Brancott Estate under the name of Montana was a pioneer. Plantings here in 1975 of the Sauvignon Blanc variety led to it becoming the defining wine for the New Zealand industry. Patrick Materman has been the winemaker here for over a quarter of a century.
This has been celebrated with the construction of an heritage centre designed by Fearon Hay in the form of an elongated pavilion integrated into the landscape. The centre incorporates a restaurant.
The Estate is the venue for the Marlborough wine festival held in February.
Brancott Estate sponsored a cloud sourced artwork at the 2014 World of Wearable Art by designer David Trubridge. The Costume was inspired by the first flight of gannets en-route to Australia. In 2017, Brancott splashed out on a massive steel wine rack in the middle of the vineyard, the work of New York Sculptor Dror Benshetrit. The short movie about the sculpture produced by De Zeen explains how and why.
