Lake Ruataniwha

The central jewel in the high country playground that is Twizel. Lake Ruataniwha has anchored a place for itself in the New Zealand Rowing scene, with fixtures in the annual calendar. It is the also the setting for a plethora of other water based pursuits.

Like paddle boarding, water skiing, fishing, sailing, and plain old boating. The facilities here are entirely adequate, serving the purpose for which they were designed, like picnicking, launching, boat washing, parking and being entirely unpretentious, a requirement for any self respecting long standing Canterbury recreational playground.
