Kapiti Coast Walks

A popular walking track leads up through Nikau palms to panoramic views of the Kapiti coast. The car park is at the bottom of the hill. Allow about 20 mins to climb up the many steps. About 10 minutes to get down.
Look for native birds:fantail, grey warbler, tui and kereru.

Barry Hadfield who donated the 11 hectare reserve of Kohekohe/Nikau forest was a great grandson of Bishop Octavius Hadfield, Kapiti's first missionary.

From the top it is possible to follow 2.5 kilometres along a ridge with views of Paraparaumu township.
