Queen Street West, Levin, Horowhenua
Some waterways in New Zealand are not as dirty as they look.
Lake Horowhenua is.
Unsuspecting waterfowl are the only ones enjoying this lake, due to swimming and boating being prohibited, and long-running and wide-ranging conflicts surrounding the lake's pollution levels. It is held in trust for the Maori owners and efforts to rehabilitate the environment are underway but confusion reigns.
