Te Mama Museum

Far North Museums

A museum to rival Te Papa.
Te Mama is the lifetime collection of Totara North local Bruce Sanderson, including many important industrial relics from Lane and Browns Shipbuilders and Sawmill and other taonga from throughout Whangaroa Harbour.

In 2017, Sanderson opened the collection in the buildings of the former Totara North Joinery factory, which he personally restored, and commissioned Far North artist Chris Wilkie to decorate with heritage themed murals.

NZPlaces is very keen to have a photo of Te Mama, if you are passing, please send one in.
