62 Park Terrace, Christchurch Central City, North Beach, Christchurch City
The neo-Georgian Weston House occupied a prominent position on Park Terrace. It was built for George Weston, a Christchurch Lawyer to a design by Cecil Woods. It had an Historic Places Trust Category 1 listing. The House was constructed over a two year period by English craftsmen.
Cecil Wood's interest in Georgian Revival gave Christchurch two of its finest houses, both on Park Terrace. He designed the Weston House in 1923-24. The house is a perfect example of Georgian symmetry and formality, with an air "of restful and dignified beauty". It is a catalogue of Georgian features — built of red brick, with small-paned double hung windows in white frames, a hipped roof, narrow, rectangular dormers, substantial flanking chimneys, a strong cornice line and columns supporting a flat pediment above the recessed entrance.
Weston House has been completely demolished following the earthquakes.
