Lyttelton is a small historic harbour town close to Christchurch with some interesting things to see. Half of which fell down in the Earthquakes, only strengthening the spirit of this feisty little port town. In 2017 Lyttelton is attempting to recreate some of it's lost history with lifesize figures of pioneer characters scattered around the town, a project named Lyttelton Redux.
Get there by catching Bus 28 from outside the Millennium Hotel in Cathedral Square. Buses depart every half hour Monday - Friday, and hourly on the weekends. Search the Ecotour and Heritage categories on NZ Places to find the attractions. Lyttelton eating places have quite a reputation. Check out London Street.
