86 Hoon Hay Valley Road, Kennedys Bush, Cracroft, Christchurch City
The cricket club here dates from the 1920s, when cinema employees who wanted to play cricket on Sundays were forced to find a private ground as no play was allowed.
The ground and associated club were formed by Harry Waters, managing director of Christchurch Cinemas and a keen cricketer. The Valley of Peace cricket ground is based at a privately owned property, located at the far end of Hoon Hay Valley road, where there is not much else other than a glamorous wedding venue. The ground is not accessible to the public, but club membership is not pricey, though it may be exclusive.
They play an interesting range of fixtures throughout the season, against and eclectic range of sides, both local and international.
