Hollywood 3 Theatre

The only surviving suburban cinema in Christchurch. All the more incredible as it survived the earthquakes which decimated much of Sumner in 2010 and 2011. A local couple have run the cinema as managers for half a century, staying on when it changed hands for just short of $1m in 2015. They serve a fusion of art house and mainstream films in high definition, seven days a week, complemented by the gently regenerating Sumner cafe scene.
