13 Rue Balguerie, Akaroa, Christchurch City
Akaroa Museum reflects the culture of the community in all its aspects historical, social, cultural and contemporary.
At the front of the museum is the Langlois-Eteveneaux House constructed in Louis Philippe style in 1841. The museum is a top Akaroa visitor attraction. The museum consists of several structures of different ages and construction types, three of which are heritage buildings: Langlois-Eteveneaux Cottage, the old Akaroa Court House and the Custom House. Following earthquake damage, the different buildings are gradually being reopened.
