316 Puketoi Runs Road, Paerau, Central Otago
Clachanburn Gardens at Patearoa is considered by it's owners to be an oasis in the arid Otago climate. A Scots oasis that is. Both the owners are of Scottish descent and the name of the farm is is Gaelic for Stoney Creek, which is the name of the creek flowing through the property.
The cottage they make available for accommodation was moved from a neighbouring station, and is reported to be a replica of Robert Burn’s own cottage in Scotland.
The setting is based upon an original farm homestead flanked by two ornamental ponds, lawns and borders and an extensive planted garden. It has been ranked amongst the Gardens of National Significance. There are options to view the gardens, take a tour of the grounds, choose a meal to order, or stay over in the heritage cottage. Bookings necessary.
