Okahu Bay Children's Playground

The playground here is themed around the Maori heritage of the area. Historically the site was a waka landing, fishing and gardening village for Ngati Whatua hapu. The overall concept of the playground is based on the manaia form, a common feature in Ngati Whatua waka and carving styles. A feature is a swing designed for children in wheelchairs. It has the meanest flying fox in the whole of Auckland.
