House designed by Vernon Brown

Vernon Brown was the designer of this characteristically creosoted house which dates from 1942. It was best viewed from the sea-front on the Takapuna- Milford walk. Stacpole and Beaven comment: "For a time, the lean to roof in association with sash windows was like a trademark. Houses which today look very ordinary were then revolutionary. Many are noteworthy for a new and open approach to planning."
