Pupu Springs - Te Waikoropupu Springs

Tasman Walks

These outstandingly clear springs are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand. Some 15 cubic metres of water at 12 degrees are pumped out each second. Optical measurements under water found that the visibility was 63 metres.
The springs are registered as a wahi tapu/sacred site under the Historic Places Act 1993 and are one of the most visited sites in Golden Bay. Set among regenerating native bush the springs are reached by a short walk from the car park.
They are closed to fishing, swimming, diving, wading, boating, kayaking etc.
