A good beach for families however limited facilities and can be dangerous in poor conditions.
Pakiri Beach is an open ocean beach with a moderate gradient and normally one sandbar. The beach is popular with swimmers, with many Aucklanders making daytrips north to swim here in summer. It receives northerly through to easterly swells and provides generally good swimming conditions, although care should be taken during high seas or strong winds.
It is an open ocean beach offering good beach and bar breaks. It is fairly exposed in comparison to neighboring beaches and receives northerly through to easterly swells. Good bar breaks can be found in and around the Pakiri River mouth near the Southern end of the beach.
Surfcasting and shellfish gathering are both popular at Pakiri Beach. Rock fishing is possible from its southern headland although a long walk along the beach will be required.
