McLean Park

The home of Central Districts cricket, McLean Park, was named for an early Native Minister and Government Land Commissioner, Donald McLean.

This ten acre block was set aside in 1905, initially used for highland games and athletic events.

McLean Park was the first stadium in New Zealand to host a day-night match in 1995/96 and has become a regular stop for One Day Internationals. The quick draining pitch, six light towers and seating for 19,700 means it is also useful for rugby and it has become the home of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union. A bit of marching and highland games activity still go on here too.

The indoor facility here is named Rodney Green Centennial Event Centre

Walking to get here will take about ten minutes from the central city.
