Batch Winery

Batch Winery is also known as Thomas' Batch, a clever play on the New Zealand familiarity with 'Bach' holiday homes, and the owners determination to produce their wine in Batches.

Either way, the wine wins out here, as it is batch produced, in a spectacular building of clear and coloured glass, designed to make use of the sloping site to gravity-assist the wine-making process all the way to a dugout cellar in the hill. David Scott is the architect, and the colours of the special glass are all shades of wine.

The onsite restaurant here is well regarded, if your wallet can cope. There are also tour and tasting experiences on offer, provided they are pre-booked.
