Mirek Smisek

Renowned potter, Mirek Smisek was born in Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. He made domestic and decorative Stoneware and Porcelain and Saltglazed Stoneware and Porcelain. For 8 months He dropped all his other work and made about 700 pieces for the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He said he had to make, in most cases, two sizes and they had to look the same. In some instances " I had to make three sizes because the size of the people - dwarves, normal and giant. That was a bit of a challenge". Mirek Smisek died on 19 May, 2013.
