528 Ellerslie Panmure Highway, Mount Wellington-Panmure, Auckland
In 2014, the brownfields redevelopment area of Panmure / Mt Welllington reached threshold where a Transport Interchange was deemed necessary.
Built by Beca, with a winged roof and lighting features, massive glazing is the main feature of the building, framing Mt Wellington itself.
The upgrade was prompted by an 800% increase in passengers between 2003 and 2013. The station now has escalators and elevators and a nice new face, and most vitally, links with a range bus services as part of the ongoing project that is the Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative.
Cycle parking is available but the park and ride facility has been criticised for being a bit small, full by 7am, and often flooded. Passenger numbers on this line continue to grow by about 20% annually.
