25 Bowen Street, Thorndon-Kelburn, Wellington City
This Victorian Tudor-style brick house was built by Alexander Turnbull (1868-1918) to house his library.
The Turnbull collection is now housed in the National Library in Molesworth Street and forms the core of the nation's history library. Apart from New Zealand and Pacific material, Turnbull also established one of the world's finest collections of works by and about John Milton. Thomas Turnbull and Son (no relation) were the architects of the library.
