6 Arlington Street, Wellington Central - Mt Cook, Wellington City
An early building by Ian Athfield (1970) and his first high-rise, the ten storey tower is part of a development providing medium and high-density housing for the Wellington City Council. Critics have suggested the domestic scale detail on the roofline sits uneasily with the block of the tower. An influence on Athfield was apparently the architecture in Greece.
