Devonport, Auckland

Windsor Reserve

This beachfront park is where the New Zealand squadron of the Royal Navy was formed in 1862. Now it is the start point for the well attended Auckland Marathon and nome to the South African War Memorial gates, and sometimes a field of rememberance.

There is a band rotunda here, and he town's World War One memorial is by the library over the road, and the Watson Memorial, Tainui Memorial, Execution Memorial, and Navy Museum are up the beach a bit, with a few other points of interest, to see them all, click here.

Devonport Beach is a good swimming beach, and the locals even enjoy an annual mid-winter dip together. There is a children's playground.
