1-7 Shortland Street, Grahams, Auckland
In 1929 this was thetallest building in Auckland and the second headquarters for an important commercial entity, the South British Insurance Company. Its steel framing with masonry cladding was a characteristic of the Chicago style which undoubtedly also inspired its entrance lobby with its well-preserved Art Deco design. The Historic Places Trust has given it a Category I rating.
