The Conference and Function Centre, when it opened in 1980, was New Zealand's first purpose built centre of this type, the pride of an inland city which is considered a business, farming, transport and logistics hub.
The original late brutalist building has been through recent renovations, the centre forming part of a complex which includes the city's Civic Centre, Te Manawa, Globe Theatre and Library.
Look for the kinetic statue by Phil Price outside the centre.
The Conference & Function Centre has a versatile range of spaces able to accommodate from six to 600 guests, regularly hosting conferences, exhibitions and trade shows, meetings and seminars, weddings and social events and awards ceremonies.
