Athfield House

For a long time construction never seemed to be finished at Ian Athfield's hill top site which tumbles down the hill like a Greek village. Ian Athfield, determined to create a signature building, went his own way defying building ordinances but eventually this extraordinary house/village was accepted as a notable part of the Wellington landscape.

The NZ Institute of Architects chose to include the Athfield House in their Exhibit 'Future Islands' at the Venice Architecture Biennial in 2016 .
