48 Moir Street, Mangawhai, Auckland
Wood Cottage is made of Kauri but it is also the home of the Woods, absolute stalwarts of early Mangawhai. They apparently arrived here in the 1880s and lived in a shack until 1923 when this cottage was built. The nearby streets are named for their seven children. It later become known as 'Thelma's House', for one of the Mrs Woods who lived here.
The Public library and Hall are across the road, and the petrol station is next door, though the Woods themselves were at one stage the purveyors of petrol in Mangawhai.
