Cuba Street

A favourite street and gathering place for Wellingtonians, some of which is a pedestrian mall, providing many eating, shopping and people-watching opportunities. Between the cafés you can find second hand clothes, music and books as well as jewellery and leather.

A challenge for Cuba St is to preserve its character while adjusting to the need for earthquake strengthening of many of its heritage buildings. Cuba Street is a registered historic area.
