Houghton Bay and Princess Bay

The small sandy west-facing beach at Princess Bay has a modicum of shelter, even in a southerly making it great place to picnic with your sausages as the sun sets. There are changing sheds/toilets to the south. Houghton Bay is at the eastern end of the Taputeranga Marine Reserve. The splendid propeller on the shore here is from a Leander class frigate, HMNZS "Wellington" which was sunk offshore in 2005 to become a dive site.
