Tylee Cottage

The old cottage (built in 1853) is named after Thomas Tylee, a Wanganui pioneer who was in charge of the commissariat for the 65th Regiment. It is now the venue for a long established artist-in-residence scheme. In 1986 photographer Laurence Aberhart was the inaugural resident. Artists are expected to engage with the local community with work produced being displayed at the Sarjeant Gallery.
