Wanganui War Memorial Hall

A superb complement to the adjacent Sarjeant Gallery, this is one of New Zealand's finest 'modern' buildings. The pilotis supporting this fine "modernist" building signal its debt to Le Corbusier. Constructed in 1958, its designers were Geoffrey Newman, Gordon Smith and Anthony Greenhough who won a competition ahead of 42 other entries. LLTM p99
