Oamaru Heritage Radio

Now currently closed for good, but will always be a part of hisroty.

| This wonderful gem is not in the guidebooks, but a wonderful stop, if you're an audiophile, while walking around the Victorian Precinct in Oamaru. The general nostalgic vibe of Oamaru makes the old ways cool again and this heritage museum is no exception. Not only is there a live radio broadcast happening in the booth as you enter, but you will notice all the old phonographs and radios that your grandparents, aunts, uncles once owned. The collection is impressive and the kids got an education of what life was like before Spotify.

The DJ came out of his sound box and spoke with us about the museum, the station and The Eagles. The station is obviously a beloved, community-supported endeavor. The DJ's are volunteers with their own time slot and you can listen to their broadcast live from the website. http://www.ohr.nz The listening menu spans Gospel, Scottish to good old Rock.
