Onekaka Wharf

The piles are the remains of the wharf built by the Onekaka Iron & Steel Company.

Between 1920 and 1931 the Onekaka Iron and Steel Company Limited attempted to operate a blast furnace at Onekaka.

The related Hydroelectric scheme, though small, still serves the area admirably.
