Atiamuri Hydro Power Station

Atiamuri Power Station is a relatively small hydro station on the Waikato River 8 kilometres downstream of Ohakuri. With a small storage lake it takes its water directly from the larger upstream station. This means the timing of Atiamuri's generation production is critical, particularly if Ohakuri is generating at full capacity.
Originally designed for three generators, a fourth was later added being commissioned in 1962.
