102 Hautapu Street, Taihape, Rangitikei
Now claiming to be the gumboot throwing capital of the world Taihape owes its origins to the railway. The information centre is in what is probably the town's most imposing building - the town hall. It was completed in 1912. Architecturally more important, St Mary's Catholic Church in Huia Street was designed by Ernst Plischke. The town's emblem on the road in from the north is by sculptor Jeff Thompson.
