Marton

Marton is named after the home village of Captain James Cook in Yorkshire. A farming centre, it also once owed its prosperity to being a railway junction. Today Marton with a population of about 4500 is a quiet town being bypassed by both SH3 and SH1. Three boarding schools serving farming families are based here.
