Stratford, a town of about 9000 people, is the closest centre to the Egmont National Park. The district is also known for its gardens. The Percy Thomson Gallery, Stratford's public art gallery, and the Information Centre are in one complex integrated with the town square. Across Broadway is the 'tudor' town clock.
