Mataura's museum, Clematis Cottage, was upgraded in 2015. It is nicely sited in town near the river. Inside they have a collection of treasures and records of the hardworking town, though it's days as paper mill, and then a freezing works town.
Clematis Cottage is open, thanks the Mataura and Districts Historical Society Volunteers, from 1-4pm Friday Saturday and Sunday.
The next door cottage, in original condition, is just as much of a timepiece.
