The road trip around East Cape is 330 km long. Unless you are in a hurry it will pay to stop off, as there is a lot to be seen on the way. The route is known as the Pacific Coast Highway.
The eastern side of the Cape is the tribal home of the Ngati Porou iwi, while the Whanau-a-Apanui people are in the west.
