New Brighton Pier and Beach

Wairarapa's only freshwater lake on the outskirts of Masterton is artificial. It has streams, ponds, wetlands, lagoons and plantings of native and exotic trees. Created as a recreation spot and used for a range of non-motorised water sports it is now also one of the best places in the Wairarapa for birdwatching.
