Tangimoana

A small coastal settlement next to the Rangitikei River set in a sand dune landscape. It has a population of about 200. The beach was once an important highway and a ferry took travellers across the river near here leading to the building of places to stay. There is now a walkway though Tangimoana - the swamp to the north-west is a significant wild-life area for migrating birds.
