Hokonui Heritage Centre - Gore Information Centre

The original name for Gore is Hokonui and now the town goes by both names despite the rest of New Zealand delighting in the way that Scots-heritage Southlanders role the R in Gore.

Meanwhile Gore, proud of it's heritage, has set up a grrreat local information complex named the Hokonui Heritage Centre, which specialises in trout fishing memorabilia as well as a display on costuming. The Heritage centre also incorporates the Hokonui Moonshine Museum which celebrates Southland's very own answer to prohibition, and quite a tasty drop it is reported to be, and still being sold here.
The Moonshine movement in Hokonui/Gore is such that it has bloomed into a biannual whiskey and music festival in Gore.
