About Harry Barker Reserve Harry Barker Reserve is a large flat open space used mainly for cricket and hockey. History Harry Barker Reserve was created in 1962, and is named after a former Mayor of Gisborne, Sir Harry Barker.?It was used as a golf course for a few years after its creation, the grandstand was built in 1968. The sports club pavilion was constructed later in 1983 by the cricket and hockey users and is owned by those groups.
