Houhora Honey Bees and Sometimes Paua Pies

Also called the Container Cafe, Houhora Honey Bees is a family-run and family-friendly roadside retailer, which can rightly be described as an Oasis on the long highway that traverses the Far North.

This welcome wayside stop is at Pukenui, Houhora. The products are homemade, original, fresh and decidedly yummy, enhanced by an utterly authentic tropical setting featuring palms, rickety picnic furniture and the community library housed in a fun yellow refrigerator.

To compound the originality and character, they have paua, baked in a pie. NZPlaces would love a review if you happen to try the pie. We can already report the fruit icecreams are as good as any.
